Passenger Attempts Unauthorized Removal of Emergency Exit Cover Mid-Flight, FIR Submitted

The recent incidents of misbehavior and violations of security norms on Indigo flights have raised serious concerns about the safety of passengers. On January 24, a passenger traveling on Flight 6E 5274 from Nagpur to Mumbai, allegedly tried to remove the cover of the emergency exit while the aircraft was in the air and on approach for landing. The incident created a scare among fellow passengers and the airline company Indigo lodged an FIR at the local police station against the passenger for violating security norms. Earlier this month, three passengers molested an air hostess on an Indigo flight from Delhi to Patna. And last year, a passenger opened the emergency door of flight 6E-7339 from Chennai to Trivandrum.

The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has ordered an inquiry into the incident and the airline company is cooperating with the authorities to investigate the matter. According to the airline, “there was no compromise on the safe operation of the said flight”. However, the safety of passengers is always a priority and it is necessary to ensure that such incidents do not happen again.
