IndiGo Passenger Journey: DGCA Investigating Wrong Boarding
An unfortunate incident occurred on January 30, when an IndiGo passenger, who was to travel to Patna from Delhi airport, boarded a different flight and landed at Udaipur instead. Aviation regulator, Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), is now probing the incident.
According to a DGCA source, the passenger had booked an IndiGo flight for Patna from Delhi. However, when he was in the boarding area, the passenger inadvertently got into the queue for the Udaipur flight and boarded that flight instead. He realised the mistake only on landing at the Udaipur airport.
The airline became aware of the incident after the passenger alerted airport officials. The airline then flew the passenger back to Delhi, and the next day the passenger took the flight to Patna.
In a statement on Friday, IndiGo said, “We are aware of the incident that took place with a passenger in 6E-319, Delhi-Udaipur flight. We are engaged with the authorities on this matter.”
DGCA has sought a detailed report about the incident from the airline. A source from the DGCA said, “We will act and do whatever is to be done.”
The incident has also highlighted the need for improved security measures at airports. Airlines must ensure that passengers board the correct flights and that their tickets are checked thoroughly. Additionally, passengers must also double-check their tickets to make sure they are boarding the right flight. However, it is important for airlines to take extra caution to avoid such incidents in the future.
