Air India SATS-Zurich Airport to build integrated multimodal cargo hub at Jewar


Air India SATS, in partnership with Zurich Airport, will be constructing an integrated multimodal cargo hub at the upcoming Jewar airport in Uttar Pradesh. On Friday, N Chandrasekaran, Chairman of the Tata Group, announced their plans to connect every part of Uttar Pradesh with the rest of India, and potentially with significant destinations around the world. He stated that they delighte to be setting up an integrated multimodal air cargo at the new Jewar airport with our partner Zurich Airport.” Air India SATS, which is the ground handling services arm of Air India, will be responsible for the project.

Chandrasekaran said that the Tata Group’s hotel business had “tremendous opportunities” in Uttar Pradesh (UP) due to the influx of religious and wildlife tourists. Furthermore, Air India has a plan to connect every corner of UP with the rest of India and other parts of the world. Apart from a significant presence in steel, automotive, retail, financial and power sectors, TCS also employs 50,000 people in UP.

Chandrasekaran added that the group is expanding across all of its companies in the state and is making huge investments in Noida. He further noted that UP is “absolutely well placed” to become a trillion-dollar economy by the time India achieves a USD 10 trillion economy. Additionally, he highlighted that sectors like agriculture, manufacturing and tourism have huge potential to contribute to the state’s growth.
