Noida Airport: 55,000+ sq. meter Land Allotment Approved to CISF

The Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) has approved the allotment of over 55,000 sq meters of land along the Yamuna Expressway to house Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) personnel who will be responsible for the security of the upcoming Noida International Airport. This decision was made during the 76th board meeting of YEIDA on Monday, as stated in an official statement.

The allotment of land to YIAPL, a fully-owned subsidiary of Zurich International Airport AG, has been approved. YIAPL was awarded the contract to create a greenfield airport at Jewar, located 75 km away from Delhi.

M/s Yamuna International Airport Pvt Ltd, the concessionaire responsible for the development of the Noida International Airport project, has been granted a concession period of 40 years by the YEIDA. The CISF, a Government of India organization, is responsible for the security at all airports in India and will also ensure safety at Jewar Airport, according to the YEIDA statement.

The airport’s concession agreement stipulates that the consignee must provide residential facilities to security forces deployed to protect the airport. Therefore, plot number GH-03A, Sector-22A of area 55219.178 square meters has been set aside from e-auction and allotted to concessionaire YIAPL under the group housing category, at a cost of 15 percent more than the prevailing rate at the time of land allotment.

YEIDA has specified that allottees of the land may not sell or sub-lease it. Also, nor may they use it for any purpose other than the construction and operation of their proposed houses. YIAPL will be responsible for the construction, operation, and maintenance of the houses, with the building bylaws of the authority.

The Uttar Pradesh government’s Industrial Development Ministry’s YEIDA

YEIDA has decided to add an “aviation chapter” to the building bylaws in order to set standards for the buildings. And activities that will be constructed under the NIA. This decision was taken in response to the concessionaire’s requests. YEIDA is responsible for the management of land along the 165-kilometer-long Yamuna Expressway.

The authority decided to purchase more land in the vicinity for NIA, projected to be ready by September 2024. To ensure the security of the airport, as well as roads and industrial sectors in the area, including sectors 21, 28, 29, 32, 33, 10, and 09, the acquisition of an area of up to 500 meters, including roads, has been approved. This will be done with the mutual consent of all parties involved.

Therefore, the NIA is jointly owned by the Uttar Pradesh government, the Greater Noida Authority, and the YEIDA. YEIDA each holds a 37.50 percent stake and the Greater Noida Authority holds a 12.50 percent stake in the airport.
