Oman Opens Airspace: Israeli Airlines Now Fly Directly to India – Benjamin Netanyahu

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Thursday welcomed the authorization for Israeli carriers to fly over Oman as a “great day” for the aviation industry. This new route will directly connect Israel to India and establish the country as the main transit point for travel between Europe and Asia. “We’ve crossed a major milestone in our relations with the Far East,” declared Netanyahu in response to Omani authorization. “The Far East is now closer than ever before and the sky is no longer the limit!”

The Israeli prime minister announced great news for Israeli aviation, announcing that Israel has become the main transit point between Asia and Europe. This achievement was made possible due to the authorization from Saudi Arabia, which the prime minister worked towards since his 2018 visit to Oman. This authorization will allow Israeli carriers to fly directly over Saudi airspace to India and onwards to Australia.

Israel and Oman have now established diplomatic ties, also after considerable effort in recent months. Prime Minister Netanyahu has highlighted the positive news, stating that Israel is “opening up to the east on an unprecedented scale.” This is an exciting development in the region and marks a new chapter in Israeli-Omani relations.

Additionally, Israeli airlines now have the freedom to fly directly to East Asia, India, and Thailand – a game-changing announcement that will save passengers up to 4 hours of flying time and reduce fuel costs. No longer will their planes need to take the long detour around the Arabian Peninsula.

Air India has recently taken advantage of Saudi and Omani airspace to make their Tel Aviv to Delhi flights quicker and more cost-effective. Also, this development has the potential to reduce ticket prices as well, as airlines would be able to save money on fuel.
