A drunken student reportedly urinates on a fellow passenger during a flight to Delhi

According to reports from the news agency Press Trust of India, a drunken student on an American Airlines flight from New York to New Delhi, identified as a student at a US university, urinates on another male passenger while sleeping. Someone hit the victim with urine on American Airlines flight AA292, and the victim complained to the crew.

Upon discovering the onboard incident, the crew promptly notified the pilot, who then reported it to the Air Traffic Control (ATC). The ATC, in turn, alerted the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) personnel, who apprehended the accused passenger and turned him over to the Delhi Police. Under the Civil Aviation Rules, a passenger found guilty of unruly behavior will face legal consequences and may be barred from flying for a certain period, depending on the severity of the offense.

According to a statement from the US airline, local law enforcement met American Airlines Flight 292 at Indira Gandhi International Airport (DEL) due to a disruptive passenger. The flight, which departed from John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK), landed safely at 9:50 pm despite the incident.

American Airlines reported that upon the aircraft’s arrival, the Purser informed them that one of the passengers was heavily intoxicated and was not complying with the crew’s instructions. The passenger repeatedly argued with the operating crew, refused to be seated, and continuously endangered the safety of the crew and the aircraft. The passenger further disturbed the safety of fellow passengers and eventually urinated on another passenger who was seated in 15G.

The airline company has been asked to provide a comprehensive report by India’s aviation regulator, following a second incident of a similar nature that occurred within the past few months. On November 26, a comparable incident took place on an Air India flight from New York to Delhi. Shankar Mishra, who was allegedly under the influence of alcohol, reportedly urinated on an elderly woman during that flight. The DGCA has fined Air India Rs 30 lakh for failing to comply with the regulation, which requires them to report such incidents within 12 hours. Meanwhile, Mishra has been prohibited from flying for four months as the Delhi Police conduct an investigation into the matter.
