Incidents of Smoking Reported on IndiGo and Air India Flights

According to media reports, a female passenger who was 24 years old was apprehended for smoking in the lavatory of an IndiGo flight from Kolkata to Bengaluru on March 5th. The incident resulted in the passenger’s arrest.

According to an IANS report, the cabin crew detected the smell of smoke coming from the lavatory and subsequently entered to find a female passenger smoking. The crew observed the passenger discarding the cigarette in a dustbin, prompting them to extinguish it with water. The cabin crew then reported the incident to the captain, who filed a complaint regarding the passenger’s lack of discipline.

Upon arrival at Bengaluru airport, the passenger was transferred to airport security, who proceeded to lodge a complaint against her. She was subsequently apprehended by the airport police and charged with violating Section 336 of the IPC. The section pertains to the reckless and negligent endangerment of human life or personal safety. Another comparable occurrence came to light on Monday, wherein a man was reported for smoking in the lavatory of an Air India Kolkata-Delhi flight.

According to sources cited by PTI, a passenger named Anil Meena was identified after an incident was reported on March 4. Air India official handed over to the Delhi Police as he was caught smoking in the lavatory of the flight. An official with knowledge of the matter stated that the flight crew was alerted by an alarm. The alarm went off while Mr. Meena was smoking in the lavatory.

As soon as the flight landed at IGI Airport, the Delhi ATC was notified of the incident and the passenger was promptly transferred to the custody of the Delhi Police. According to an official quoted by PTI, during interrogation, the man revealed that he was a chain smoker.

A student has been accused of urinating on a co-passenger during an American Airlines flight from New York to Delhi. Per the Delhi police who filed a case against him on Sunday. The alleged incident happened while the student was reportedly intoxicated.

According to reports, the supposed occurrence happened aboard flight AA292. The flight departed from New York on Friday and arrived at IGI Airport in Delhi at 10:12 pm.
