7 Adani airports saw an increase of 92% in domestic, 133% in international travelers

The combined 7 Adani airports witnessed a surge of 92 percent in domestic and 133 percent in international travelers. Additionally, there was a rise of 58 percent and 61 percent in the count of domestic and international flights respectively.

The air traffic escalated by approximately 100 percent compared to the preceding year, reaching pre-pandemic levels. These airports welcomed over 14.25 million passengers during the last year, indicating a significant rebound in the aviation industry.

Adani Airports Holdings Ltd spokesperson predicts that the surge in passenger movements at Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA) will continue due to various factors, including the revival of tourism after the pandemic. The airport, which is the second busiest in the country, recorded almost 8.44 million passenger movements in January-February 2023, comprising 2.22 million international and 6.22 million domestic passengers.

During the initial two months, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International (SVPI) airport, Ahmedabad, experienced a significant surge in passenger traffic. The airport witnessed 1.74 million domestic passengers and 283,379 international travelers. Meanwhile, Jaipur International Airport (JIAL), ranked as the 11th busiest airport in the country also observed substantial growth in passenger traffic. JIAL served almost 0.95 million passengers, including around 0.88 million domestic passengers and approximately 69,300 international travelers.

Lucknow’s Chaudhary Charan Singh International Airport (CCSIA) holds the title of being the busiest airport in Uttar Pradesh, with a total of nearly 1.04 million passenger movements during the first two months of operation. Impressively, CCSIA welcomed roughly 136,880 international and 9.03 lakh domestic passengers during this period, indicating a successful start to the year.

Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International (LGBI) Airport, known as the gateway to Northeast India, boasts flights to and from 32 domestic and two international destinations. This airport experienced a significant increase in passenger footfall, welcoming a total of 902,694 passengers, marking a significant improvement from the corresponding months last year.

In Thiruvananthapuram, there were 299,850 domestic and 299,770 international visitors, with the airport providing connections to 10 domestic and 12 international locations. Meanwhile, Mangalore experienced a rise in visitor numbers, with 209,713 national and 84,356 foreign travelers passing through its gates.

CSMIA and CCSIA also had an impressive day of passenger traffic, with Mumbai seeing approximately 151,543 visitors on February 25, 2023, and Lucknow observing over 18,000 passengers on January 31, 2023, making their way through the respective airports.
