Noida Airport: Top officials report 2,600 workers and 400 machines on-site to ensure the timely completion

According to officials on Tuesday, the first phase of the Noida International Airport is progressing on schedule for timely completion with a workforce of over 2,600 individuals and more than 400 machines present on site. Yamuna International Airport Private Limited (YIAPL), a subsidiary of Zurich Airport International AG, is developing the Greenfield airport located in Jewar in Gautam Buddh Nagar approximately 75 km from Delhi.

CEO of YIAPL, Christoph Schnellmann announced earlier this year that they had finished the earthwork for the airport and commenced vertical construction. This includes the terminal building and runway. Schnellmann stated that the airport’s progress is significant and is progressing on schedule for timely completion.

They are currently constructing India’s largest airport which will cover an impressive area of 5,000 hectares, in four phases. Kiran Jain, the Chief Operating Officer of the project, stated that they will complete the first phase alone spanning over 1,300 hectares by the end of next year.

Upon completion of the first phase, the airport will boast a 3,900-metre-long runway and a terminal building capable of handling 1.2 crore passengers annually. Jain highlighted that this massive infrastructure project is expected to boost the region’s economy and provide world-class facilities to travelers.

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has shared statistics indicating that the airport site currently houses over 2,600 workers, as well as more than 400 small and heavy machinery units. The agency predicts that the number of workers will peak at 6,000 in the near future.

Furthermore, the NIA released a statement revealing that their partners have completed over 42 lakh man-hours of work at the site, without any injury incidents. The statement went on to report that construction has so far utilized 32,000 cubic meters of concrete and 14,000 tons of steel.
