Skytrax Awards Recognize Delhi Airport as South Asia’s Best

Skytrax, an international air transport rating organization, named the Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA) in Delhi as the top airport in India and South Asia. The airport has also improved its ranking, moving from 37th in 2022 to 36th position this year.

The GMR Airports Infrastructure Ltd-led consortium operates IGIA through Delhi International Airport Ltd (DIAL). As India’s largest airport, IGIA plays a critical role in the country’s aviation industry.

According to a press release on Thursday, Delhi airport has been the sole Indian airport to make it to the prestigious list of top 50 airports worldwide since 2020. Moreover, it has emerged as the best airport in South Asia in the Skytrax rankings.

The Skytrax World Airport Awards use a yearly global airport customer satisfaction survey conducted between August 2022 and February 2023. The survey assesses the customer experience across airport service and product key performance indicators, starting from check-in, arrivals, transfers, shopping, security, and immigration, all the way up to departure at the gate, as stated in the press release.

The CEO of DIAL, Mr. Videh Kumar Jaipuriar, said, “We are extremely delighted to receive this prestigious award for the sixth consecutive year,” commenting on the award. This recognition is a testament to our continuous efforts in providing an exceptional airport experience to our passengers, despite the challenges posed by the pandemic.
