Aeroflot expands flight schedule on Delhi-Moscow route for Russian carrier

Delmos Aviation, which handles Aeroflot’s cargo operations in India, announced that Aeroflot has increased its Delhi-Moscow flight services from four to seven times per week as of March 26. The airline has also introduced a Boeing 777 aircraft alongside its Airbus A330 to meet demand between the two capital cities.

Aeroflot will now offer daily flights with a total seating capacity of 703 across both aircraft types, accommodating business, premium economy, and economy classes.

India and Russia recently agreed to increase the number of weekly flights allowed by Russian carriers to India from 52 to 64, following a revision to their bilateral air services agreement. The Indian government has granted permission to Russian airlines to operate flights to six cities in India, including Delhi, Mumbai, Goa, Kolkata, Amritsar, and Ahmedabad. According to Delmos Aviation Director Naveen Rao, the increase in flight frequency is crucial not only for passengers but also for cargo services.

Commenting on the increase, Rao said that the rise in frequency was overdue as passenger numbers have grown considerably.

According to Oleg Korolev, the head of cargo at Aeroflot, the Moscow-Delhi route has a long-established and high-demand status due to the increasing trade between the two countries. These daily flights are expected to enhance both tourism and the cargo supply chain. Moreover, the cargo supply chain expects to improve in efficiency.

Anish Khatri, the GM for Delmos Aviation – GSSA Cargo Aeroflot Airlines, stated that there is a significant demand for shipments of various commodities such as pharmaceuticals, dangerous goods (DG), and machine tools. He also added that they are capable of carrying approximately 25 tonnes of cargo per flight and are open to accepting all kinds of special commodities, including DG shipments.
