VisitBritain and IndiGo team up to boost travel between India and UK

IndiGo, a low-cost airline, has partnered with VisitBritain to encourage travel to the United Kingdom. The airline will offer connectivity to London, Manchester, and Birmingham through a codeshare agreement with Turkish Airlines, providing customers with an affordable travel option.

They expect that this collaboration will boost tourism between India and the UK, leading to mutual economic growth and development. They particularly aim for this partnership to promote travel during the peak tourist season in India, which is typically in the summer and late spring.

According to Mr. Vinay Malhotra, the Head of Global Sales at IndiGo, the airline aims to provide customers with even more options through these connections. He added that IndiGo commits to offering courteous, hassle-free, on-time, and affordable travel across an unparalleled network, making flying a pleasant experience for its customers.

According to Ms. Louise Bryce, Director of Partnerships at VisitBritain, India is a vital market for inbound tourism and there is a high demand for travel. Providing a first-rate welcome to visitors is crucial to the tourism industry’s competitiveness, and ensuring easy access to Britain through regional gateways is essential to encourage visitors to explore more of the country.

IndiGo has collaborated with Turkish Airlines on a codeshare partnership before, and last year it announced 32 new connecting flights to Europe as a result of this collaboration. These new routes served major destinations such as Milan, Manchester, Birmingham, Rome, Venice, Portugal, and Switzerland.

Qantas also formed a codeshare partnership with IndiGo in August of last year, allowing passengers traveling to Bengaluru and Delhi to seamlessly connect to other major cities such as Mumbai, Chennai, Pune, and Goa.

Furthermore, a codeshare agreement allows two airlines to broaden their customer base and gain access to destinations served by either of them. Such partnerships enable airlines to book passengers on partner carriers and offer seamless travel to locations where they do not operate.
