IndiGo and Virgin Atlantic Extend Codeshare Partnership to Include Additional Destinations

On Thursday, British carrier Virgin Atlantic announced an expansion of its codeshare agreement with IndiGo, a budget airline. The move will allow Virgin Atlantic customers to access new destinations across India. Last August, the two airlines entered into a codeshare partnership to expand their reach among customers traveling to destinations serviced by both airlines.

The codeshare agreement will enable Virgin Atlantic to book its passengers on IndiGo flights and offer seamless travel options to destinations where it has no presence. The expanded partnership will add 18 destinations to the existing 16, bringing the total number of destinations available to 34.

Passengers will be able to book a single ticket for travel, which will connect them seamlessly to London and beyond from cities such as Varanasi, Srinagar, Goa Mopa, and Lucknow through Delhi and Mumbai. Alex McEwan, Country Manager for South Asia at Virgin Atlantic, expressed enthusiasm for the partnership, stating that it offers customers more options when traveling to and from India.

In addition, the partnership will now include Goa’s second airport, Goa Mopa, allowing travelers to access one of their favorite destinations with greater ease.

According to the British carrier, Virgin Atlantic’s Flying Club members can now earn both Virgin Points and Tier Points on every codeshare flight with IndiGo, enabling them to reach their rewards more quickly. The expanded codeshare agreement between the two airlines makes this possible.

In a joint statement, the two airlines said, “We are delighted to be able to offer our customers even greater connectivity between India and the UK with the extension of our codeshare partnership. We remain committed to providing our customers with a seamless and comfortable travel experience, and this partnership is a testament to that commitment.”
