SpiceJet Flight to Srinagar Returns to Delhi Due to False Cockpit Warning

SpiceJet flight SG-8373, traveling from Delhi to Srinagar, had to return to the Indira Gandhi International Airport in Delhi on Tuesday due to a false warning in the cockpit. The AFT cargo fire light in the cockpit illuminated, prompting the pilot to take necessary action, the airline said in a statement on the same day.

According to the statement, the captain was able to extinguish the light and all operational parameters was normal before the aircraft landed back in Delhi. The airline further stated that after inspecting the AFT cargo upon landing, no signs of fire or smoke were found. As a result, based on the initial assessment, the warning was deemed to be false.

According to an official statement, the aircraft landed safely and the passengers disembarked without any incidents. However, a source familiar with the matter stated that a SpiceJet flight bound for Srinagar from Delhi with 140 passengers on board had declared a full emergency.

The source said that SpiceJet flight SG 8373 had declared a full emergency at 10:40 am on Tuesday. The aircraft successfully returned and landed safely at IGI Airport. As per the source, the aircraft has now been parked.

SpiceJet is one of India’s leading low-cost airlines, operating both domestic and international flights. The airline has a fleet of over 100 aircraft, serving 63 destinations, including 54 domestic and nine international destinations.
