Emergency Landing: Air India Flight from Pune to Delhi Diverted to Delhi Airport

Media reports stated that an Air India flight from Pune to New Delhi had to make an emergency landing at Indira Gandhi International Airport on Tuesday. The reason for the landing was due to the pilot discovered a crack in the windshield of the aircraft. The flight ultimately touched down at 5:50 pm.

According to the reports, the pilot had requested a priority landing after noticing the crack on the co-pilot’s side of the windshield.

According to an airline spokesperson, a SpiceJet flight bound for Srinagar had to return to Delhi airport earlier in the day due to a false warning.

On Tuesday, SpiceJet reported that one of their B737 planes, which was operating flight SG-8373 from Delhi to Srinagar, had to return to the Indira Gandhi International (IGI) airport due to a warning light indicating a potential fire in the AFT cargo area. However, upon taking action, the captain managed to extinguish the light, and all operational parameters were subsequently observed to be normal before landing.

The statement from SpiceJet further revealed that upon inspection of the AFT cargo area after landing. No fire or smoke was found, leading the airline to conclude that the warning was false. The aircraft landed safely and all passengers were able to disembark normally.

The incident with the SpiceJet flight highlights the importance of thorough inspections and precautions, even when warnings may be false. The safe landing of both flights is a testament to the skill and training of the pilots and crew involved.

Air India has not yet released a statement regarding the incident. It is unclear if the affected aircraft will require repairs before it can resume operations.
