On Saturday, Garuda Aerospace, a drone manufacturer, announced that it has received orders for 6,000 Kisan drones and has surpassed the halfway mark under the Drone Yatra 2.0 initiative launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in February 2022. The purpose of the Drone Yatra 2.0 is to showcase the effectiveness of drones for different agricultural purposes and to spread awareness about their advantages to farmers across India. The project has covered 388 districts, spanning a distance of 1.92 lakh kilometers, across several states including Gujarat, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Punjab, West Bengal, and Bihar.

The primary objective of this initiative was to create a significant impact and establish trust among farmers by conducting on-ground demo sessions to familiarize them with the technology, as per Jayaprakash.

The use of drones in agriculture has been gaining popularity in recent years as it offers several benefits, such as reducing labor costs and increasing crop yield. The Garuda Kisan drones are equipped with advanced features such as multispectral imaging, which allows farmers to monitor crop health, identify pests and diseases, and optimize fertilizer and pesticide usage. This technology can help farmers save time and money while also increasing their crop yields.

Furthermore, the success of the Drone Yatra 2.0 initiative is a significant milestone for Garuda Aerospace, and it highlights the growing demand for drone technology in the agricultural sector. The company’s commitment to making its drones affordable and accessible to farmers across the country is commendable, and it is expected to have a positive impact on the agriculture industry in India.
