Air India Receives 700+ Pilot Job Applications, Demonstrating High Demand for Employment
Air India has received over 700+ Pilot Job applications from pilots in just one week, demonstrating the high demand for employment. The airline, which already has more than 1,800 pilots, recently issued an advertisement for more than 1,000 pilots across its A320, B777, B787, and B737 fleet. The recruitment drive is in preparation for the augmented large fleet of 470 aircraft that Air India has ordered from Boeing and Airbus, including wide-body planes.

In a statement, an Air India spokesperson said, “We have already received over 700 applications in the last few days as a response to the advertisement, which is under process. As a continuation of this recruitment process, we are conducting walk-in interviews in Mumbai, Delhi, and Bengaluru.”
The overwhelming response to the recruitment advertisement suggests that there is a high demand for pilot jobs in India. Industry sources have indicated that many pilots of cash-strapped Go First, which has filed for voluntary insolvency resolution proceedings, are also looking for other opportunities, including at Air India.
The Tata Group, which owns Air India, Air India Express, AIX Connect, and Vistara (a joint venture with Singapore Airlines), is in the process of merging Air India Express and AIX Connect as well as Vistara with Air India. This merger is expected to create a more consolidated and efficient airline operation in India.
Overall, the recruitment of pilots by Air India demonstrates the airline’s commitment to expanding its fleet and improving its services.
