IndiGo Flight to Singapore Diverted to Indonesia Over Cabin Odor

The burning smell in the cabin diverted a Singapore-bound IndiGo flight from Tiruchirappalli in Tamil Nadu to Kualanamu airport, Medan (Indonesia) on Tuesday. IndiGo, the airline, confirmed the incident and stated that they are flying an alternate aircraft to Kualanamu to fly the stranded passengers to their destination.

The flight, identified as A320ceo operating 6E-1007, was en route to Singapore from Tiruchirappalli when the crew noticed a burning smell in the cabin. Following standard procedures, the pilot decided to divert to the nearest airport, which was Kualanamu Airport in Medan, Indonesia. The aircraft landed safely at the airport, and all passengers and crew members disembarked without any issues.

IndiGo has not shared specific details regarding the number of passengers on board or the time when they will be flown to their destination. However, the airline confirmed that they are currently holding the aircraft at Kualanamu for detailed inspection. Initial inspections on the ground were reportedly satisfactory, and the airline has not yet revealed the cause of the burning smell.

In a statement released on Wednesday, IndiGo said, “During the cruise, there was a burning smell noted in the cabin by the crew. The pilot followed procedures and as a precaution diverted to the nearest airport, Kualanamu, and the aircraft landed safely.” The statement further added that the airline is “taking all necessary measures to ensure that they fly the stranded passengers to their destination at the earliest.”

IndiGo is one of the largest airlines in India, operating both domestic and international flights. The airline has a reputation for its punctuality and safety record. This incident has once again highlighted the importance of airline safety and the need for airlines to follow standard procedures in case of any emergencies or incidents.

As of now, it is unclear when the passengers will be able to reach their final destination, but IndiGo has assured that an alternate aircraft is being flown to Kualanamu to fly them to Singapore.
