Go First Informs Staff: DGCA to Audit Airline’s Preparedness Prior to Flight Resumption
The head of operations at crisis-hit airline Go First informs the staff that the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), the aviation regulator, will assess their readiness and conduct an audit before granting approval for the resumption of flights. Go First, facing financial difficulties, halted its flight operations on May 3 and is currently undergoing voluntary insolvency resolution proceedings.
A senior official from the DGCA confirmed on Tuesday that the airline has responded to the regulator’s show cause notice. This response indicates that Go First is actively working on formulating a comprehensive plan to resume flights as soon as possible.

In a message to the staff on Tuesday, the airline stated, “In the upcoming days, the DGCA will perform an audit to evaluate our preparedness. Once we receive the regulator’s approval, we will promptly commence our operations.”
The airline received strong support from the government, which urged them to initiate operations at the earliest, according to a statement. Rajit Ranjan, Head of Operations at Go First, conveyed this message.
In response to a question about Go First resuming flights, Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia stated on Wednesday that they had not yet received any information from Go First. However, he assured that once they receive the plan for restarting flights, the DGCA (Directorate General of Civil Aviation) will thoroughly review the safety protocols before making a decision.

Scindia made these remarks while speaking to reporters during the annual session of the industry body CII in the national capital.
Additionally, the airline communicated to its staff that the CEO had guaranteed the crediting of April salaries to their accounts prior to the commencement of operations.
Furthermore, the statement included that starting from the upcoming month, they will disburse the salary during the first week of each month.
The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) issued a show cause notice to the budget carrier on May 8, citing relevant provisions of the Aircraft Rules, 1937. The notice was issued due to the airline’s failure to maintain safe, efficient, and reliable service operations. Go First has responded to the show cause notice by submitting its reply.
Go First had previously announced on May 2 that it would initiate voluntary insolvency resolution proceedings and temporarily suspend flights for two days initially, from May 3 to May 4.
During that same period, DGCA issued a show cause notice to Go First for abruptly canceling flights on May 3 and 4 without providing any prior notification.
On Monday, the National Company Law Appellate Tribunal (NCLAT) upheld the National Company Law Tribunal’s (NCLT) decision to accept Go First’s plea for voluntary insolvency resolution proceedings.
The ruling was made in response to petitions filed by four lessors who opposed the airline’s insolvency resolution proceedings.
