Despite recent reports suggesting a high attrition rate among cabin crew members, the airline remains optimistic about its growth prospects. According to a statement released by the company on Thursday, Akasa Air expects to have approximately 3,500 employees by the end of this year, up from its current count of 3,000.

The airline, which commenced operations in August of last year, has quickly established itself as one of the fastest-growing carriers in the industry. Currently, Akasa Air operates over 900 flights per week, catering to domestic passengers in India. However, the company has even more ambitious plans for the future. Akasa Air’s aggressive expansion strategy includes fleet expansion as well. With its existing fleet consisting of 19 planes, the airline has set a target to increase its aircraft count to 72 by March 2027. In line with this plan, the company recently announced its acquisition of four additional Boeing 737 Max planes. Moreover, Akasa Air has expressed its intention to place a substantial order for three-digit aircraft by the end of this year, highlighting its confidence in the airline’s growth trajectory.

Addressing the reports of high attrition rates among cabin crew members, Akasa Air vehemently denied such claims, calling them “factually incorrect and baseless.” The company emphasized its track record of maintaining one of the lowest attrition rates in the industry, suggesting that the recent reports do not accurately reflect the reality within the organization. Akasa Air remains committed to also providing a positive and fulfilling work environment for its employees, and it is confident in its ability to attract and retain top talent.

In terms of passenger numbers, Akasa Air has been steadily gaining momentum. In May alone, the airline served approximately 629,000 passengers, capturing a domestic market share of 4.8 percent. These figures indicate a growing customer base and also suggest that the airline’s customer-centric approach is resonating with travelers in India.

As Akasa Air continues to expand its workforce, fleet, and operations, it aims to strengthen its position in the aviation industry. with its focus on customer satisfaction, low attrition rates, and an expanding network, the airline is poised for further growth and success in the coming years.
