Akasa Air Launches Direct Flights Connecting Mumbai and Kolkata

Akasa Air, India’s newest airline, has taken a significant step towards enhancing domestic connectivity by introducing direct flights between Mumbai and Kolkata. This latest addition to their route network commenced operations on July 7, 2023, and is expected to offer greater convenience and accessibility to passengers traveling between these two major cities.

The launch of direct flights between Mumbai and Kolkata is part of Akasa Air’s broader strategy to expand its services and connect key destinations across India. In addition to the Mumbai-Kolkata route, the airline now connects Kolkata with two other major cities – Bengaluru and Guwahati. By strengthening its presence in these regions, Akasa Air aims to meet the growing demand for air travel and provide more options to passengers seeking efficient and reliable transportation.

Notably, Akasa Air has also increased its flight frequency between Delhi and Ahmedabad, offering passengers on this route the convenience of two daily flights. This move is expected to benefit both business and leisure travelers by providing them with increased flexibility and improved connectivity.

Domestic Destinations

With a total of 200 weekly departures, Akasa Air has significantly expanded its reach and now connects Mumbai with a total of 12 domestic destinations. These include Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Chennai, Delhi, Lucknow, Goa, Kolkata, Hyderabad, Varanasi, Bagdogra, Kochi, and Guwahati. The airline has also enhanced its frequency on key routes, with flights from Mumbai to Delhi, Goa, and Bengaluru now operating an average of three times, four times, and eight times daily respectively.

Recognizing the growing demand for air travel, Akasa Air has also prioritized bolstering its connectivity from Pune. The airline now offers direct flights from Pune to Delhi and Goa, resulting in a total of 47 weekly departures from the city. This increased connectivity benefits passengers traveling between Pune and Bengaluru, Delhi, Bhubaneshwar, and Goa, providing them with more travel options and convenience.

Praveen Iyer, Co-Founder and Chief Commercial Officer of Akasa Air expressed his enthusiasm for the airline’s recent expansion. He highlighted Akasa Air’s commitment to making air travel accessible for all Indians and emphasized their dedication to optimizing their network to align with their vision. Iyer stated that the introduction of new routes and additional flights will enhance air connectivity at affordable prices, ultimately offering travelers across the country a dependable and comprehensive flying experience.
