Mumbai: Air India Express starts, a low-cost airline owned by Tata, is launching new non-stop flights between Mumbai and Varanasi in Uttar Pradesh. This new route will improve connectivity and meet the rising demand for travel between these cities.

For the first time, Air India Express will operate flights from Mumbai (BOM) to Varanasi (VNS). This expansion strengthens the airline’s network, as it already flies to Varanasi from three other destinations.

Air India Express Mumbai to Varanasi Flight – Starts 15th February 2025

Air India Express is launching a daily flight from Mumbai to Varanasi starting 15th February 2025.

  • Flight IX 2546 departs Mumbai (BOM) at 1:20 PM IST and arrives in Varanasi (VNS) at 3:40 PM IST.
  • The flight takes 2 hours and 20 minutes on a Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft.

For the return journey:

  • Flight IX 2547 departs Varanasi at 4:15 PM IST and lands in Mumbai at 6:30 PM IST.
  • The return flight takes 2 hours and 15 minutes.

This new route offers a convenient travel option between Mumbai and Varanasi, especially for those visiting for Maha Kumbh Mela 2025.

Air India Express (IX) will face tough competition on the Mumbai (BOM)–Varanasi (VNS) route. As of January 8, 2025, there are already six daily flights operated by four airlines.

  • Akasa Air (QP) and IndiGo (6E) – Each runs two daily flights on this route.
  • SpiceJet (SG) – Operates one daily flight in the sector.
  • Air India (AI) – The sister airline of Air India Express, also runs daily flights on this route.

Air India Express will be the fifth airline in the sector. With these new flights, Mumbai (BOM) – Varanasi (VNS) sector will have up to seven daily flights starting 15th February 2025.

Mumbai (BOM) now joins the list as Air India Express’s fourth destination from Varanasi (VNS).
