ICAO announed Opportunities for Young Aviation Professionals
ICAO : The International Civil Aviation Organization has launched a program for young aviation professionals.This program is in partnership with International Air Transport Association (IATA), and Airports Council International (ACI).This will be the second program in the same segment.
ICAO will select three Young Aviation Professionals who will be offered exciting career opportunities at headquarter of ICAO, Montréal. The programme will attract young talented professionals who have got advanced university qualifications, catered with a minimum of two years’ professional working experience in aviation-related regulatory activities and/or in the aviation industry.
During the selection process for getting the young talent, consideration will be given to gender and geographic diversity.
“This 12-month long programme is unique,” said Fang Liu, ICAO Bureau of Administration and Services Director, “as it will allow Young Aviation Professional Officers to advance their knowledge and understanding of the global civil aviation system within a United Nations international regulatory body, the airline and airport industries, as well as to learn about synergies between these actors.”
The selected ICAO candidates will be expected to contribute to ICAO’s work programmes related to either aviation safety, navigation capacity and efficiency,how to improve efficiency and safety or to air transport economics and aero-political issues, focussing on inter-relationships between regulatory activities of ICAO and those in the airline and airport industries in IATA and ACI, respectively.
The selected Young Aviation Professional will be guided throughout the programme by an ICAO subject-matter expert at Montreal,Canada. The last date for the application is 06 Oct,2014.
The selection criteria is as follows :
Level of educations:
a) Master’s degree (or equivalent, to be demonstrated by the applicant); or
b) Bachelor degree, supplemented with a Commercial Pilot License or an Air Traffic Control License.
Experience: Minimum of two years’ professional working experience in aviation-related regulatory activities
and/or in the aviation industry.
Language skills: Fluent reading, writing and speaking abilities in English. Working knowledge of a second
language commonly used in international organizations (French, Spanish, Chinese, Russian or Arabic) would be
an asset; and
Age criteria: Aged 32 years or less on the closing date of this announcement.
