GRIPS, Ground Reality Information Processing  System is the latest aid for runway safety. The best part is it does not depend on any other aid like radar or and radio signal. In this system, the entire runway is fitted with long range cameras which takes photographs in every 30 seconds, and sends the video footage & photographs to ATC .It gives the warning for the presence of any suspected material.
