AAI Chairman Announces Digi Yatra Implementation at Kolkata, Pune, and Vijayawada Airports
The Airports Authority of India (AAI) is taking a major step forward in revolutionizing the air travel experience with the implementation of Digi Yatra at Kolkata, Pune, and Vijayawada airports. Digi Yatra is an innovative initiative by the Union government to enable contactless and paperless travel for passengers. This initiative is aimed at streamlining the travel process and reducing waiting times for passengers at airports.
The Digi Yatra service will enable passengers to pass through various checkpoints at the airport without the need for any physical documents such as IDs and boarding cards. This is achieved by the use of facial recognition technology and the data is linked to the passenger’s boarding pass. All that is required is a one-time registration on the Digi Yatra app using Aadhaar-based validation.
AAI Chairman Sanjeev Kumar has said that after the successful implementation of Digi Yatra at Varanasi airport, the Union government is now focusing on rolling out the service at Kolkata, Pune, and Vijayawada airports. The chairman also mentioned that around 25-30 percent of passengers at Varanasi airport have already started using this service.
The introduction of Digi Yatra is expected to drastically improve the air travel experience for passengers. The hassle of carrying physical documents will be eliminated, passengers will no longer have to wait in long queues for security checks and the boarding process will also be made faster and smoother.
The Airports Authority of India is also working on other initiatives such as the development of airports, and modernizing the air navigation services. And the introduction of advanced technology to make air travel safer and more efficient. The successful implementation of Digi Yatra and other initiatives will no doubt help to create a world-class air travel experience in India.
