Air India and Air India Express Employ Over 3,900 Individuals This Year, States Campbell Wilson

Air India, under the leadership of CEO Campbell Wilson, has made significant strides in its recruitment efforts this year, hiring over 3,900 individuals, including 2,400 cabin crew members and 500 pilots, since the start of 2023, including Air India Express. Wilson emphasized the airline’s commitment to expanding its recruitment and training capabilities, aiming to bolster its workforce and enhance operational efficiency.

Air India, with approximately 11,000 employees, has been actively focusing on a five-year transformation plan with the aim of expanding its route network, increasing the number of flights, and capturing a larger market share in both domestic and international segments. To support its ambitious growth plans, the airline has placed firm orders for a total of 470 aircraft, including narrow-body and wide-body planes, from renowned manufacturers Boeing and Airbus.

Last month, Air India, which is now under the ownership of the Tata Group, announced its intention to hire over 1,000 pilots, and it anticipates adding more than 500 aircraft to its fleet in the coming years. The airline highlighted the availability of various opportunities and accelerated career growth across its A320, B777, B787, and B737 fleets for both captains and first officers, as well as trainers.

It’s worth noting that Air India Express (AIX), a subsidiary of Air India, also contributed to the overall recruitment numbers. AIX, currently has approximately 1,900 employees, including third-party staff. Also, has been actively involved in expanding its workforce to support its operations.

In addition to these developments, Air India has actively engaged in a joint venture with Singapore Airlines called Vistara. This collaboration aims to merge Vistara with Air India, further strengthening the airline’s position in the market.

The hiring spree and strategic partnerships underscore Air India’s commitment to growth and its determination to enhance its services to meet the evolving demands of the aviation industry. With an increased workforce, improved training capabilities, and a substantial fleet expansion on the horizon, Air India is poised to become a major player in the global aviation market.
