He also stated that the airline’s significant investments, such as its record-setting aircraft order, the commitment of USD 400 million to refurbish its existing fleet, the investment of USD 200 million in new IT, and the recruitment of thousands of new employees, will help restore Air India to the top of the global aviation industry. As the airline enters the Take Off phase, these investments will begin to bear fruit, Wilson added.
According to the release, AirAsia India and Air India Express will consolidate during the second phase, with their core reservations platforms, websites, and customer-facing systems already merged as a Low-Cost Carrier (LCC) entity.
The release added that the regulatory authorities granted approval for the merger of Air India with Vistara. The airline plans to establish a world-class training academy and determine the future direction and configuration of its line and base maintenance.

The airline also launched 29 new policies aimed at improving employee welfare and designed new remuneration programs for legacy staff, in addition to hiring more than 3,800 employees to support growth.
The airline expedited its fleet expansion by leasing 36 aircraft, including 11 wide-body planes scheduled to be delivered in 2022-23. It also restored or decommissioned long-grounded aircraft. The release noted that Air India achieved its highest-ever single-day passenger, cargo, and ancillary revenues, as well as the highest-ever load factor.
