Air India SATS to develop multi-modal cargo hub at Noida Airport

Noida International Airport (NIA) has announced that Air India SATS (AISATS) will be developing a multi-modal cargo hub (MMCH) on 80 acres of land. This cargo hub will provide a quick, convenient and intermodal connection to and from manufacturing hubs in India. This cargo and logistics infrastructure and ecosystem will enable a differentiated catchment and several upcoming industrial clusters in the NCR and Uttar Pradesh, forming a cargo gateway for Northern India.

Noida International Airport CEO Christoph Schnellmann stated, “We are confident that our creative approach to plan and develop the multi-modal cargo hub with integrated facilities and efficient processes will benefit the cargo and logistics industry in North India. The Noida International Airport cargo hub will aid Western Uttar Pradesh and the NCR to realize its full cargo and logistics potential.”

Noida International Airport is confident that its multi-modal cargo hub will bring increased predictability and efficiency to their operations, as well as address existing logistic bottlenecks. Also, to bring this vision to fruition, NIA is partnering with Air India SATS (AISATS), a company renowned for its global expertise in ground-and-cargo-handling and its presence at five airports across India.

AISATS handles over 1,30,000 flights annually. Sanjay Gupta, CEO of AISATS, expressed his enthusiasm for this strategic partnership, noting that it would help create a state-of-the-art and modern cargo infrastructure, taking advantage of the latest technology. India is set to become a major logistics hub in the world, and the government is taking steps to make it more efficient and globally competitive.

Gupta has stated that the Noida International Airport is aiming to develop world-class infrastructure to deliver a top-notch cargo experience for all stakeholders. Also, he added that the MMCH will have an integrated cargo terminal and an integrated warehousing and logistics zone. This zone will also offer a transhipment centre, a warehouse zone for freight forwarders, integrators, and transportation facilities for road-to-road, road-to-air, and air-to-road movements.

Furthermore, the infrastructure designed to ensure efficiency, scalability, seamless process flows, and common digital infrastructure and systems. Finally, Noida International Airport construction of the first phase expect to be complete in 2024.
