Air India to Open Engineering Warehouse in Delhi Next Month
Air India announced its plans to establish an engineering warehouse near Delhi airport, with the aim of resolving aircraft defects at an accelerated pace. The warehouse, spanning 57,000 square feet, is set to become operational next month. As part of the airline’s revival efforts under the ownership of Tata Group, Air India is actively recruiting pilots and cabin crew while implementing various technological upgrades. In addition, there have been indications of pilots from Go First expressing interest in joining Air India.
In a message addressed to the employees, Campbell Wilson, the CEO, and MD of Air India, shared the news about the agreement for the establishment of the engineering warehouse. Wilson highlighted the warehouse’s strategic location near Delhi Airport, emphasizing that it would provide closer access and improved control over aircraft spares. This development is expected to facilitate faster resolution of defects encountered by the airline.
Immediate information regarding the investment for the facility remains undisclosed at this time.
Go First Operations
In light of Go First ceasing operations and initiating voluntary insolvency resolution proceedings, Wilson acknowledged that Air India swiftly implemented several measures, including assisting a stranded student group in Port Blair.
Although not explicitly mentioning Go First, Wilson alluded to a plan aimed at swiftly expanding domestic flights to “address the void created by another airline’s reduction in flights, ensuring minimal disruptions to capacity, frequency, and airfare for the public.”
Furthermore, our sales team took prompt action to aid a student group stranded in Port Blair, while our recruitment and operations staff promptly attended to the influx of individuals seeking to join Air India.
“The swift initiatives demonstrate the remarkable community spirit and adaptability of Air Indians, exemplifying our unwavering dedication to lending a helping hand whenever and wherever necessary,” stated the Chief of Air India.
Numerous pilots from the crisis-ridden Go First are actively exploring alternative employment prospects, including positions within the Air India group.
Wilson further acknowledged that, in response to the prevailing unrest in the region, Air India has augmented its flight schedule to Imphal, accommodating individuals seeking temporary relocation.
