Air India Warns Cabin Crew to Uphold Image and Avoid Unacceptable Behavior
Air India, owned by the Tata Group, has warned its cabin crew to adhere to the standards of ethics and has stated that disciplinary action will be taken if their conduct negatively affects the airline’s image. The in-flight safety department also issued a communication to cabin crew members on Monday. Also, urging them to abide by the Tata Code of Conduct (TCOC) and to avoid any actions in violation.
Amid the controversy of a wide-body aircraft pilot being found with two iPhone 14s at Delhi Airport. The airline is being asked to pay Rs 2.5 lakh in customs duty, and a source close to the matter has revealed that communication was issued in response. Air India has also yet to comment on the incident.
Recently, the airline communicated that they have received feedback suggesting some cabin crew members have been carrying items in commercial quantity on their return to India from a foreign country, which is a violation of customs regulations. Furthermore, highlighting the importance of their conduct, the airline reminded crew members that they are the ambassadors of their airline. And must maintain ethical standards and follow the TCOC as their actions have a direct impact on their airline’s image.
Removing items from aircraft, or any other premises associated with a company, without written permission is a violation of the Terms and Conditions of Carriage (TCOC). Overall, Air India employees are hereby instructed to adhere to the Tata Code of Conduct (TCOC). Any violation of this code will result in strict disciplinary action. TCOC is a comprehensive document created by the Tata Group to set out ethical standards for its companies and personnel. Air India also implemented TCOC in May 2019.
