Akasa Air Order a Fleet of Aircraft in Triple Digits
On Wednesday, Akasa Air announced its intention to order a fleet of aircraft numbering in the hundreds by the end of the year. The company’s Founder and CEO, Vinay Dube, shared plans to expand globally by year-end and establish a learning academy in Bengaluru.
During a press conference, Dube disclosed that Akasa has purchased a fleet of 72 aircraft, with 18 already delivered. Additionally, he mentioned that a substantial order of aircraft will be placed by the end of the year. Although he did not reveal the exact number, he did mention that the order would be in three digits and considered significant.
According to Dube, Akasa plans to employ 300 pilots within the coming year and establish a learning center in Bengaluru. Additionally, he stated that the airline will require a minimum of 3,500 pilots over the next decade.
Akasa Air has become the country’s fastest-growing airline, having completed six months of operations, as per the company’s statement.
Akasa Air, the third largest domestic carrier in Bengaluru, has 36 daily flights according to its records.
The order is a major boost for Airbus, which has faced stiff competition from its rival Boeing in recent years. The aircraft manufacturer has been working to recover from the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the aviation industry and is hopeful that orders like this will help them to do so.
In conclusion, Akasa Air’s decision to order a fleet of 72 aircraft is a bold move that shows the airline’s commitment to its business model. The airline aims to offer affordable air travel to Indians, and the fuel-efficient Airbus A320neo and A321neo are the perfect aircraft for this purpose.
