A DGCA official shared this information with ANI, emphasizing the crucial role played by the Aircraft Maintenance Engineer (AME) in identifying the open fuel panel. This discovery by the AME prompted the communication between the AME, air traffic control (ATC), and the flight crew regarding the open fuel panel. It is important to note that fuel was not uplifted at Mysore, further raising concerns about the safety protocols.
In response to the incident, the DGCA has taken immediate action by launching an investigation into the matter. The objective is to ascertain the root cause of the open fuel tank and evaluate any potential lapses in safety procedures. Only after the completion of the inquiry will appropriate action be taken, as stated by the DGCA official: “DGCA is investigating the matter and will take appropriate action based on the outcome of the investigation.”
While the DGCA aims to uncover the circumstances surrounding this incident, Alliance Air has chosen not to provide any additional comments or statements at this time. This silence leaves passengers and aviation authorities awaiting further details on the matter.
The safety of passengers and crew members is of utmost importance in the aviation industry. Incidents such as an open fuel tank pose serious risks and underscore the critical need for thorough inspections, adherence to safety protocols, and continuous vigilance. The ongoing investigation will shed light on the incident and authorities will ensure implementation of necessary measures to prevent similar occurrences in the future.
