Budget 2023: Govt to Raise Rs 8,000 Cr Through Airport Privatisation

With the Union Budget 2023 around the corner, the Aviation Ministry is looking to garner more private investment in the aviation sector. The ministry is aiming to generate Rs 20,000 crore through asset monetization. This would include the privatization of 11-12 airports, including Raipur, Jaipur, Vijaywada, Kolkata, and Indore. The estimated revenue generated through this would be more than Rs 8,000 crore. This includes the monetization of the Airports Authority of India, the Air India brand, and other assets.

The government is also looking to introduce a new scheme to increase private investment in the aviation sector. This scheme is expected to provide investors with tax breaks and other incentives.
