Passengers who arrived at the new terminal had nothing but praise for the state-of-the-art facilities and the beautiful architecture of the building. Thammem, a passenger from Bangladesh, expressed his happiness at being among the first group of travelers to arrive at Chennai’s T-2. He described the terminal as “well-organized, perfect, and beautiful”, and also mentioned that this was his first visit to India and Chennai.

Another passenger, Ashok, who was boarding a flight to Dhaka, expressed his thrill at traveling on the first flight to depart from the new terminal. Also, passengers on the flight had a smooth and comfortable travel experience, thanks to the advanced facilities and amenities available at the new terminal.

One of the cultural aspects of the new terminal is a sculpture of “The Boatman” in the arrival area, which pays tribute to the traditional fishermen of the state. This sculpture is an ingenious way to acknowledge their way of life and their contribution to the culture and economy of the region.

The US-Bangla Airlines would continue to operate from the NITB (T-2) on April 25, as announced by the Chennai airport earlier. The new terminal building has been set up at a total outlay of Rs 2,437 crore and was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on April 8.

The Chennai airport expects the new terminal building to offer passengers a world-class travel experience as it is a significant upgrade. The new terminal will become a major landmark of the city due to its state-of-the-art facilities, advanced security measures, and innovative designs.
