DGCA to Conduct Special Audit of Go First Facilities from July 4th to 6th

The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has announced that it will be conducting a special audit of Go First’s facilities in the national capital and Mumbai from July 4th to 6th. The audit is a crucial step before approving the airline’s revival plan and the resumption of its flights, according to a senior official quoted by the news agency PTI.

Following a preliminary review of the resumption plan submitted by the Resolution Professional (RP) for Go First on June 28th, the regulatory authority has decided to conduct this special audit, the official stated. The audit will primarily focus on safety-related aspects and ensuring continued compliance with the requirements for holding an Air Operator Certificate.

The official further emphasized that the audit will involve a physical verification of the arrangements made for the resumption of flight operations. This indicates that the DGCA is keen on examining the airline’s preparedness and infrastructure to ensure the safety of passengers and staff.

Go First, which voluntarily initiated an insolvency resolution process, ceased operations on May 3rd. Since then, the airline has been working towards a revival plan to restart its services.

On June 28th, senior representatives of Go First’s management held discussions with officials from the DGCA regarding various aspects of the revival plan. These discussions likely involved providing additional information and addressing any concerns raised by the regulatory authority.

In light of the ongoing audit and operational reasons, Go First has announced the cancellation of flights scheduled until July 6th, 2023, as stated in a tweet by the budget carrier on Thursday.

The airline has also filed an application for immediate resolution and revival of its operations and has assured passengers that bookings will resume shortly once the necessary approvals are obtained.

Sources revealed that the DGCA will carefully examine the documents submitted by Go First related to the revival plan. Additionally, an audit of the airline’s operational preparedness will be conducted before granting permission for it to recommence operations.

The revival process gained momentum with the formation of Go First’s Committee of Creditors (CoC) on June 10th. The CoC consists of the Bank of Baroda, Central Bank of India, IDBI Bank, and Deutsche Bank, all of which play a crucial role in the revival and financial restructuring of the airline.

The DGCA’s special audit is a significant step towards ensuring the safety and readiness of Go First’s facilities before allowing the carrier to resume its operations. By thoroughly examining the revival plan and conducting a comprehensive audit, the regulatory authority aims to safeguard the interests of passengers and maintain aviation standards.
