Disturbing Incident: Man Urinates and Defecates on Air India Flight Mid-Air

Police stated on Monday that they have apprehended a man for reportedly engaging in disruptive behavior during a flight. The incident involved the individual allegedly defecating, urinating, and spitting in row 9 of an Air India Mumbai-Delhi flight, identified as AIC 866, which occurred on June 24.

According to the filed FIR, the passenger, identified as Ram Singh, carried out these actions while the aircraft was in mid-air. Upon witnessing this misconduct, the cabin crew promptly issued a verbal warning to the passenger and isolated him from others onboard.

An Air India spokesperson expressed their concern regarding the incident, stating, “A passenger on our flight AI866, operating from Mumbai to Delhi on June 24, exhibited highly inappropriate behavior, causing great discomfort to fellow passengers. In order to handle the situation to the best of their ability under the circumstances, our crew promptly segregated the passenger for the remainder of the flight and issued a warning.”

Upon landing in Delhi, the security personnel took custody of the passenger. They subsequently registered a police complaint (FIR) and reported the matter to the regulator. Air India maintains a zero-tolerance policy towards such unruly and unacceptable behavior. The spokesperson emphasized that they are fully cooperating with the ongoing investigations.

The spokesperson promptly informed the pilot-in-command of the situation and sent an immediate request to the company for security upon arrival. The incident left several passengers agitated, as stated in the FIR.

Upon arrival, the head of Air India security also personally attended to the situation and accompanied the passenger to the local police station.

A case was registered under sections 294 (obscene acts) and 510 (misconduct in public by a drunken person) of the Indian Penal Code, as stated in the report.

On November 26, 2022, an intoxicated man allegedly urinated on a female co-passenger during an Air India flight from New York to Delhi.
