Go First Announces Extension of Flight Cancellations Through June 30

Go First, an airline facing a severe crisis has announced an extension of its flight cancellations until June 30, citing operational reasons. Initially, the airline had stated that operations would remain suspended until June 25. The decision comes as the cash-strapped carrier continues to grapple with the grounding of its aircraft since May 3.

In early May, Go First filed for bankruptcy at the National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT) and subsequently suspended its flight operations due to escalating losses. The primary cause of these losses was attributed to delays in the delivery of Pratt and Whitney engines, which resulted in the grounding of a significant portion of the airline’s fleet. Go First remains optimistic about finding a swift resolution to its challenges in order to revive its operations.

The Airline expressed regret over the inconvenience caused by the extended flight cancellations and announced the decision on Twitter. The airline stated, “Due to operational reasons, we regret to inform you that Go First has canceled flights scheduled until June 30, 2023.” We apologize for the disruption to your travel plans caused by these cancellations.” The airline acknowledged the impact these cancellations may have had on passengers and reassured them of their commitment to providing necessary assistance.

Furthermore, Go First informed its customers that they are actively pursuing immediate resolution and revival of operations through an application filed with relevant authorities. The airline anticipates resuming bookings shortly and expresses gratitude to passengers for their patience during this challenging period.

Reports have emerged suggesting that the grounding of Go First flights has exerted pressure on airfares, particularly on routes where the airline had a significant presence prior to the suspension of operations. The absence of Go First’s services on these routes has likely created a supply-demand gap, causing fares to surge temporarily. Industry experts are closely monitoring the situation to assess the potential impact on the wider aviation market.

Go First continues to face an arduous journey toward stability, but with its efforts focused on finding a resolution and reviving operations, there is hope that the airline will overcome its current setbacks. Passengers affected by the flight cancellations are advised to stay updated with official announcements from Go First and explore alternative travel options in the meantime.
