Go First Cancels All Flights Until May 26 for Operational Reasons

Go First, the low-cost airline owned by the Wadias has announced the cancellation of all flights until May 26, citing “operational reasons.” The airline had initially planned to resume flights on May 24 but has now extended the suspension.

In a statement, Go First apologized for the inconvenience caused and directed customers to visit their website for further information. The airline filed for voluntary insolvency proceedings on May 3, leading to a moratorium on its assets, including airport arrival and departure slots. However, the government temporarily allocated these slots until May 23, the date when Go First had previously announced the suspension of flights.

Passengers affected by flight cancellations will receive a full refund, which will be issued through the original mode of payment. Go First primarily operated frequent flights to popular leisure destinations such as Srinagar, Leh, and Goa.

According to data from Cirium, Go First had scheduled 199 flights from Delhi to Srinagar, 182 flights on the Delhi-Leh route, and 156 flights from Mumbai to Goa in May. The airline also accounted for a significant portion of non-stop flights on routes like Delhi-Srinagar and Mumbai-Goa. Industry executives have noted that all destinations, except Goa, are currently experiencing high demand.

Affected passengers are advised to stay updated through Go First’s official channels for any further announcements or changes to the flight schedule.

Challenging the decision of the National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT) to grant Go First’s request for voluntary insolvency resolution proceedings.
