Go First Undergoes Rigorous Facility Audit by DGCA

Go First, an Indian airline that has been grounded since May 3, is undergoing a rigorous facility audit by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) in order to seek approval for restarting its operations. The special audit, which began on Tuesday in Mumbai, will continue on Wednesday and then move to Delhi on Thursday.

According to an airline executive, the DGCA is expected to submit the audit report on Thursday itself. The DGCA is focusing this audit on the safety-related aspects and compliance requirements necessary to hold an Air Operator Certificate, as well as physically verifying the arrangements made for the resumption of flight operations.

Go First, formerly known as GoAir, has already extended the cancellation of its flights until July 10. The Mumbai-based airline is currently undergoing voluntary insolvency resolution proceedings.

On June 30, the DGCA conducted a preliminary review of the revival plan submitted by the Resolution Professional (RP) for Go First. The Committee of the Creditors (CoC) has already approved the revival plan for Go First, which aims to resume operations with 26 planes, including four aircraft for chartered services, and operate over 150 flights per day.

However, the final approval of the revival plan by the DGCA will depend on the outcome of the special audit. The audit will determine if Go First has met all the necessary safety requirements and has made adequate arrangements to ensure the smooth resumption of flight operations.

The COVID-19 pandemic has severely impacted the airline industry, leading to financial difficulties for many airlines around the world. Go First’s revival plan and the subsequent audit are crucial steps toward the airline’s recovery and eventual return to the skies.

As the audit continues, Go First and its stakeholders eagerly await the outcome, hoping that the airline will soon be able to resume its operations and contribute to the recovery of the aviation industry in India.
