This notable growth trend further strengthens the airport’s position as the primary gateway to the Northeast, serving a network of 32 domestic and two international destinations for passengers originating from Guwahati.
In addition to the increased passenger footfall, Guwahati Airport also witnessed a rise in the number of flight movements, nearly 4,000 flights recorded in June 2023, surpassing the figures from the same period in the previous year. This indicates a robust recovery in air travel activity and highlights the airport’s essential role in connecting the region to the rest of the country and the world.
The spokesperson shared that the top four national destinations from Guwahati are Delhi, Kolkata, Mumbai, and Bengaluru. Moreover, the airport serves as a gateway for international travel with flights to Singapore and Paro. These connections highlight the airport’s significance as a vital transportation hub, facilitating both domestic and international journeys for travelers in and out of Guwahati.
Looking ahead, the spokesperson expressed optimism about consistent growth during the upcoming winter schedule, commencing in October. With the winter season historically witnessing a surge in passenger numbers, Guwahati Airport anticipates a further increase in travelers during this period.
The impressive surge in passenger traffic at Guwahati’s LGBI Airport serves as a testament to the region’s strong recovery from the impact of the pandemic.
