IndiGo Adds Second Boeing 777 Aircraft for Mumbai-Istanbul Route
IndiGo, a no-frills airline, has added a second Boeing 777 aircraft to its fleet. This wide-body aircraft will be used for flights between Mumbai and Istanbul. Previously, IndiGo operated a fleet of narrow-body Airbus planes in a single-class configuration for over 16 years. Earlier this year, the airline began operating twin-aisle aircraft with a leased B777 from Turkish Airlines on the Delhi-Istanbul route.

IndiGo has a codeshare agreement with Turkish Airlines and several other airlines.
Codesharing is a commercial arrangement that enables an airline to book its passengers on partner carriers, offering seamless travel to destinations where it does not operate flights.
IndiGo’s CEO, Pieter Elbers, stated that the addition of a second wide-body aircraft will offer more convenient travel choices for those seeking to fly between India and Europe this summer.
According to the airline, Istanbul serves as a crucial transit point, enabling connectivity to 33 European destinations through its codeshare network. The introduction of the new aircraft will not only enhance the route’s capacity but also contribute to maintaining affordable fares.
The Boeing 777 aircraft features a dual-class configuration with 24 business class seats and 376 economy class seats, accommodating a total of 400 passengers.
The airline has been expanding its European connections by partnering with Turkish Airlines through a codeshare arrangement. This allows passengers to access various countries such as Bulgaria, Spain, the Netherlands, Greece, Belgium, Hungary, Denmark, the Republic of Ireland, the UK, Malta, France, the Czech Republic, Israel, Austria, Switzerland, Italy, Portugal, and Edinburgh.
Also, Starting May 23, IndiGo, a low-cost airline, will begin operating direct flights between Goa and Dehradun, connecting these popular tourist destinations. The direct flight route will link Manohar International Airport (Mopa) in Goa with Jolly Grant Airport in Dehradun, Uttarakhand.
