IndiGo Flight Bound for Dehradun Makes Emergency Landing at Delhi Airport Due to Technical Issue
In a swift response to a technical snag, an IndiGo flight bound for Dehradun was compelled to make an emergency landing at the Indira Gandhi International (IGI) airport in Delhi. The pilot and ground control effectively managed the incident on Wednesday, ensuring the safe landing of the aircraft and the well-being of all 108 passengers onboard.
IndiGo flight 6E 2134, scheduled to depart from Terminal 2 of the IGI airport at 2:10 pm. The flight experienced a technical issue shortly after takeoff. As per standard protocol, the pilot promptly informed the Air Traffic Control (ATC) and requested a priority landing. Following this, the aircraft returned to its origin, the IGI airport in Delhi, where it landed safely without any injuries reported, according to police officials.
Addressing the incident, IndiGo released a statement clarifying the situation: “The emergency landing of IndiGo flight 6E 2134 was necessitated due to a technical issue, not due to any fire or engine failure. The safety of our passengers is of utmost importance. And our pilot followed the necessary procedures to ensure a secure landing.”
After conducting necessary maintenance, the aircraft ultimately departed at 2:36 pm, inconveniencing passengers aboard the flight due to the delay. IndiGo also expressed regret for any inconvenience caused and assured passengers that the aircraft would resume operations after thorough inspections.
Contrary to initial reports, IndiGo officials dismissed claims suggesting an engine failure as the cause of the emergency landing. Instead, they emphasized that they solely attributed the incident to a technical issue, thereby reiterating their commitment to passenger safety.
A senior Delhi Police official highlighted the effective coordination between the pilot and ground control. And confirmed that they accounted for all 108 passengers and ensured their safety without any harm. The prompt response and successful emergency landing averted any potential danger that also could have arisen from the technical problem.
