IndiGo Flight from Delhi to Doha Makes Emergency Landing in Karachi for Medical Assistance
The Delhi-Doha flight 6E-1736 of IndiGo was redirected to Karachi, Pakistan, because of a medical crisis on board. Sources indicate that a traveler on the plane suffered a medical emergency, but unfortunately, the rescuers could not save the individual. Upon landing, the airport’s medical staff announced the passenger’s death.
IndiGo stated that it is currently working with the relevant authorities to make arrangements for the other passengers on the flight. The airline expressed its sorrow at the news and conveyed its prayers and well wishes to the family and loved ones of the affected individual.
The incident once again highlights the importance of having well-trained and prepared flight crews to handle medical emergencies mid-air. According to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), in-flight medical emergencies occur on approximately 1 in every 604 flights. While most of these emergencies are not life-threatening, they can be serious and require immediate medical attention.
In such cases, flight crews are trained to provide basic medical assistance to passengers. However, for more serious medical emergencies, it may be necessary to divert the flight and make an emergency landing in the nearest airport to ensure prompt medical attention.
