IndiGo to Commence Flights from Jeddah to Delhi and Bengaluru as Part of Operation Kaveri

IndiGo, one of India’s leading airlines, announced on Friday that it will operate chartered or commence flights from Jeddah to Delhi and Bengaluru to bring back Indians evacuated from Sudan as part of Operation Kaveri. The airline will operate two flights to bring more than 450 Indian citizens back to their homeland over the weekend, according to a statement.

On April 28 and 30, Air Arabia will operate flights from Jeddah in Saudi Arabia to Delhi and Bengaluru using A321 aircraft. The airline has been closely liaising with the government to offer support for more such evacuation flights.

Operation Kaveri is an initiative of the Indian government to evacuate Indian citizens stranded in Sudan due to the ongoing political crisis in the country. The Ministry of External Affairs, the Ministry of Civil Aviation, and Air India are jointly executing the operation since April 2019.

Under Operation Kaveri, India brought back 754 people from Sudan on Friday. With this, the total number of Indians brought home now stands at 1,360, according to official data. The government has been working tirelessly to evacuate Indian citizens from conflict-ridden regions across the world.
