Jyotiraditya Scindia Announces Imminent Commencement of Air Services from Kanpur to Delhi

Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh – In a significant development for the state of Uttar Pradesh, Union Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia announced on Friday that air services from Kanpur to Delhi will soon commence. The announcement came during the inauguration ceremony of the new terminal building at Kanpur Airport. Scindia revealed that the government has plans to connect Kanpur with several other cities, including Pantnagar, Aligarh, Moradabad, and Shravasti.

The inauguration of the new terminal building marks a milestone in the aviation infrastructure of Kanpur. The state-of-the-art facility, built at a cost of Rs 150 crore, is 16 times larger than the existing terminal. Equipped to handle 400 passengers during peak hours, as compared to the previous capacity of 50 passengers, the new terminal will significantly enhance the air travel experience for residents and visitors to Kanpur.

During his speech, Minister Scindia highlighted the government’s vision to improve air connectivity across Uttar Pradesh. He announced plans to establish a total of 22 new airports in the state, with 11 airports already operational and 11 more to be started over the next three years. The new airports will be located in various cities including Chitrakoot, Moradabad, Jhansi, Ghazipur, Aligarh, Azamgarh, Saharanpur, and Shravasti. These initiatives aim to facilitate convenient air travel and boost regional development.

The new terminal building at Kanpur Airport also showcases the architectural heritage of the city. The designers have incorporated a facade in the terminal building that resembles the famous JK Temple of Kanpur, thus adding a touch of local culture and identity to the airport.

Minister Scindia emphasized the transformative impact of the expanded aviation infrastructure on Kanpur and the surrounding regions. He stated, “The existing air terminal in Kanpur, which previously handled just 3,000 passengers, will soon be able to handle 10 lakh passengers every year. This facility will not only benefit Kanpur but also impact eight surrounding districts.” The improved connectivity is expected to stimulate economic growth, attract investment, and create job opportunities in the region.

Furthermore, Minister Scindia shared the government’s plans for the aviation sector in Uttar Pradesh. He revealed that a new airport will be constructed in Ayodhya within the next 1.5 years. Additionally, the upcoming Jewar Airport, set to be operational soon, aims to rival major airports in cities like Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, and Hyderabad. These ambitious projects demonstrate the government’s commitment to bolstering air transportation infrastructure in the state and promoting Uttar Pradesh as a key destination for business and tourism.

Highlighting the progress made in the aviation sector under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Minister Scindia shared impressive statistics. He stated, “In 2013-14, there were 652 airplane arrivals per week in Uttar Pradesh, but today, under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, the state sees 1,595 airplane arrivals a week, which is 145 percent higher.” The remarkable increase in air traffic underscores the success of the government’s efforts in improving air connectivity and accessibility across the state.
