Karnataka: Airport staff won’t be considered as frontline workers for Covid-19 vaccine, says state govt
Bengaluru: A day after announcing airport staff would be considered as frontline workers for Covid-19 vaccination, Karnataka government on Sunday withdrew the circular and said Central government’s classification of the workforce will continue to remain in effect for the inoculation drive.
It should be noted that healthcare and frontline workers are being administered free Covid-19 vaccine by the government in the ongoing nationwide vaccination drive.
Around two crore frontline workers will be covered in the first phase of Covid-19 inoculation drive, which is likely to continue for the next couple of months.
In an earlier circular dated January 22, the Karnataka government said that staff members of all airports will be considered as the frontline workers and will thus be eligible for the vaccination.
