KLM Royal Dutch Airlines Affirms India as a Key Market

New Delhi: KLM Royal Dutch Airlines has reaffirmed its focus on the Indian market by launching a new class for travelers on its flights between Amsterdam and various cities in India. Recognizing India as the world’s third largest and rapidly growing aviation market, the airline aims to strengthen its presence in the country. KLM is a member of the Air France-KLM Group, which successfully served one million passengers on Indian routes in 2022.

Presently, Air France-KLM operates a robust network of up to 46 weekly flights, connecting the cities of Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, and Chennai. In addition, the airline has established a strategic codeshare partnership with IndiGo, offering seamless connectivity to over 30 destinations across India.

In response to the increasing traffic to and from India, the group has expanded its seat capacity on Indian routes by 22% compared to 2022.

KLM, in recognition of the rising demand, has introduced the ‘premium comfort class’ on flights to and from India.

“The launch emphasizes the significance of India as a key market for KLM. The new premium comfort class will be available on flights connecting Bengaluru, Delhi, and Mumbai to Amsterdam, as well as numerous destinations across KLM’s extensive global network,” stated the airline in a press release issued on Friday.

Claude Sarre, General Manager for the India subcontinent at Air France-KLM, expressed that this development further solidifies KLM’s position as a leading global network carrier, providing passengers with an enticing and diverse range of onboard products.

Additionally, the group is actively seeking ways to decrease fuel consumption by leveraging its modern fleet.

In the year 2022, KLM, as an airline, utilized 1 percent of Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF), and it has set ambitious targets to raise this figure to 10 percent by 2030 and an impressive 63 percent by 2050.

Air France-KLM holds a prominent position in the realm of international air transport. With its extensive global network, the group provides flight services to more than 300 destinations, operating under the brands’ Air France, KLM Royal Dutch Airlines, and Transavia, as stated on its official website.
