Moves by PM Modi on Independence Day 2023 – Drone Training, Urban Relief, and Vishwakarma Surprise”
Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the nation today from the historic Red Fort on the occasion of India’s 77th Independence Day. In a momentous speech that highlighted the nation’s progress and challenges, PM Modi announced three pioneering schemes aimed at fostering empowerment (Drone Training), skill development (Urban Relief), and economic upliftment (Vishwakarma Surprise).
1. Vishwakarma Scheme: Empowering Traditional Skills
One of the most significant announcements came in the form of the Vishwakarma Scheme, a dedicated initiative to empower skilled workers with traditional craftsmanship. With a substantial allocation of Rs 13,000-15,000 crore, this scheme aims to elevate and sustain traditional skills that often pass down through generations. The scheme is set to launch on September 17, which coincides with Vishwakarma Jayanti. It will also mark the Prime Minister’s birthday.
The Vishwakarma Scheme will provide support and resources to various skilled professionals, including masons, barbers, goldsmiths, weavers, and more. These craftsmen, who often form the bedrock of India’s cultural heritage, will receive training, financial aid, and modern tools to enhance their skills and marketability. The scheme anticipates breathing new life into traditional trades, generating employment opportunities, and preserving India’s rich artistic traditions.
2. Urban Poor Relief: Making Housing Dreams Attainable
Prime Minister Modi’s address also held good news for the urban poor, particularly those residing in slums and unauthorized colonies across cities. With an emphasis on addressing housing challenges, PM Modi announced a relief measure pertaining to home loans. “We are bringing a rebate on home loans for slum dwellers and residents of unauthorized colonies in cities,” he stated. This announcement is expected to alleviate the financial burden on these individuals. It also, allows them to access affordable housing options and realize their dreams of homeownership.
3. Women Empowerment through Drone Training
In a significant stride towards women’s empowerment, Prime Minister Modi introduced an innovative initiative aimed at rural women. Under this scheme, members of 15,000 women self-help groups will undergo training to operate and repair drones for agri-tech purposes. This forward-looking program aligns with the government’s vision to create two crore ‘lakhpati didis’ (prosperous sisters) in villages. By providing women with the skills to utilize drone technology for agricultural practices, the scheme aims to enhance productivity, reduce manual labor, and open up new avenues of income for rural women.
Prime Minister Modi’s triple announcement on Independence Day underscores the government’s commitment to fostering economic growth, social empowerment, and skill development across diverse segments of the population. These schemes expect to catalyze positive changes in the lives of millions, ushering in a new era of progress and inclusivity.
As the nation commemorates its 77th year of independence, these initiatives stand as a testament to India’s unwavering spirit and determination to build a brighter and more prosperous future for all its citizens.
