Sabre and Air India Sign Multi-Year Agreement for Global Flight Access

Air India has entered into a multi-year agreement with Sabre Corporation, which is listed on Nasdaq. The deal aims to offer travel agents and corporations across the globe access to Air India’s fares and seats through Sabre’s global travel marketplace. As per the airline’s statement, Air India will utilize Sabre’s consultancy expertise to decide on the most suitable routes for its existing and new fleets.

According to Nipun Aggarwal, the Chief Commercial & Transformation Officer at Air India, the Indian travel market is making a strong comeback. Air India is pleased to renew and enhance its partnership with Sabre during this transformative time for Air India and the broader Indian travel industry. This long-term global distribution alliance will assist Air India’s ambitious expansion goals while laying the foundation for a more dynamic, merchandise-oriented model, allowing Air India to unlock the worth of its products and services.

Indian conglomerate Tata acquired Air India after the airline incurred huge losses and debt, causing a burden on taxpayers. The airline is striving for a multi-stage transformation roadmap to establish itself as a “world-class global airline with an Indian heart.”

To soar higher in the global skies, Air India has placed the largest-ever aircraft order for 470 planes this year.

Air India, the flag carrier, is making significant changes to its operations by expanding its fleet and network, improving customer experience, and enhancing reliability. The airline also recently announced the completion of the first phase of its five-year transformation plan, Vihaan.AI, which addressed legacy issues and established a solid foundation for future growth.

To modernize its digital systems, Air India has invested $200 million in AI-driven chatbots and other initiatives. In addition, the company has partnered with Sabre to optimize its route network and capacity planning over a 10-year horizon, as well as streamline fleet assignment across its system. Sabre will also provide consultancy services, including the market evaluation and the development of new hub and schedule structural designs.

Sabre’s Chief Commercial Officer, Roshan Mendis, stated that the airline would benefit from Sabre’s global network of travel agencies, while Sabre’s agency partners would gain access to Air India’s products and services. Air India’s partnership with Sabre positions the airline for continued growth and success in the future.
