Scapegoat or Suspect: Flyers divided to blame alcohol for Air India like crazy acts
In recent months, the number of incidents of unruly behaviour by intoxicated passengers on commercial flights in India has been steadily rising. This has caused a great deal of concern amongst the general public and the aviation industry, raising questions about the safety of passengers on board international flights. In an effort to address this issue, LocalCircles recently conducted a survey to gauge the opinion of the public on the matter. The survey found that 48% of respondents feel that liquor should not be served on board international flights while 42% were in favour of serving alcohol.
The survey also showed that 89% of respondents believe that safeguards should be put in place to ensure passengers do not get into an inebriated state on international flights. When asked what measures should be taken to ensure the safety of passengers on the flight, 40% of respondents indicated that a breathalyzer test should be conducted and boarding should be rejected based on pre-defined parameters. 32% of respondents suggested that all passengers should mandatorily give an undertaking about not consuming personal liquor on board the flights.
The survey was conducted in light of recent incidents involving intoxicated passengers on board Air India flights. In one particular incident, a 70-year-old woman was urinated by an intoxicated man. This incident has brought the issue of passenger safety to the forefront, with many calling for stricter rules and regulations to be implemented.
The aviation industry has a responsibility to ensure the safety of all passengers, regardless of whether they are consuming alcohol or not. It is up to the industry to put into place the necessary rules and regulations to ensure that passengers are safe and secure while travelling. The results of the LocalCircles survey indicate that the majority of the public is in favour of introducing measures to ensure passenger safety and comfort while onboard.
